According to their notecard, "the Ecosystem working group is a small group of dedicated scripters and builders committed to the notion of developing a simple, but functioning, ecosystem within the confines of the Second Life platform. We are attempting to develop common protocols for animal-animal interaction and believe our experiments here can enrich Second Life and the scientific understanding of complex systems themselves."
You can find several species of plants and animals since all the jellypods, a mix of plant and animals. Predators include the gridraptor and the flyingfox. If you make a donation, some species will "multiple or evolve." Pretty fun! I met a local resident, he shared some insights and gave me a journal. Here's a sample entry.
"Wednesday, November 22nd,
It seems strange, there are about 14 gridlouce and an abundance of eggs. More gridlouce would mean less cannon plants, which is very true in this case, there isn't suppose to be more than 8 gridlouce at one time, I am interested to see how it effects the eco system, I saw the stranded gridlouce that was stuck since before Saturday."
